Shawn to Teach at PTG Annual Convention & Technical Institute

Join Shawn in St. Louis, Missouri as he teaches all about two important piano topics. This is the industry's premier opportunity to learn, network and grow with fellow piano technicians.

Woods of the Piano – Take a guided tour through a visual presentation of how pianos are made and the material differences involved. Explore one hundred and thirty years of piano making as we see how piano making formulas grew out of materials that were available. Shawn shares tools, technology and materials used in the art of piano making and restoration.

The Art of Piano Restoration – Explore Shawn's shop as he shares 35 years of custom tools and technology. You'll learn more about fitting the soundboard and pinblock with routers, and stretcher removal, rebuilding and replacement. You'll discuss fitting the plate and his unique approach to setting acoustical dowel. The visual tour also includes Shawn's custom piano paint room and shop set up.

Norfolk Annual Piano Technicians Guild Conference

The Piano Technicians Guild had their national conference in Norfolk, VA this year, and again, Shawn shared his expertise. He brought a fully restored 1926 Steinway L with him to exhibit and show during his classes, The Woods of the Piano and The Art of Restoration. Shawn to Teach at Upcoming Denver PTG Convention

This summer, Shawn will once again teach at the Annual Piano Technicians Guild Convention being held in Denver, CO.  He will be sharing his expertise and enthusiasm by conducting two classes, Woods of the Piano and Woodworking for the Technician in the Home.

Shawn's Piano hosts Youth Student Recital

Recently, 19 youth piano and violin musicians participated in Connie's Piano Studio's 4th Annual Student Recital at Shawn's Piano.  These grade school and middle school students performed solos, duets and trios of the masters from Mozart, Bach, Vivaldi, Chopin and many others to the delight of their teacher, family and friends.

A Successful Annual Piano Technicians Guild Convention

Shawn Hoar conducted classes at this year's annual PTG Convention and Technical Institute in Atlanta, GA. He took the participants on a guided tour through a visual presentation of how pianos are made and the material differences involved. One hundred and thirty years of piano making were explored and they saw how piano making recipes grew out of materials that were available. Shawn shared tools, technology and materials used in the art of piano making and restoration. This convention is the industy's largest annual gathering of piano technicians in the world. We were delighted to be hosting the Hartford Chapter CSMTA Youth Recitals. The purpose of Youth Recitals is to provide opportunities for all students to develope and improve, confidence, enjoyment, and performance skills by performing before a welcoming and friendly audience of peers, teachers, families and friends.

Shawn Hoar to speak at NEECSO on RESTORATION FROM A TO Z

Shawn Hoar, owner of Shawn's Piano, and one of the country's formost experts on piano restoration will speak at this year's NEECSO conference in Nashua, New Hampshire. Attendees can follow a "soup to nuts" restoration of a vintage Steinway grand as Shawn walks through the process in his rebuilding shop.
